The 70th Hunger Games was the annual installment of the Hunger Games, which occurred approximately 5 years prior to the beginning of the 75th Hunger Games, Arena 01.
Games Summary[]
The 70th Hunger Games was considered "boring" by Capitol standards. Though several kills had occurred at the Cornucopia, only a few notable deaths, such as the decapitation of the District 4 male Tribute, had occurred since, and the Tributes as a whole were surviving and staying away from each other. As a result, the Gamemakers burst open the nearby dam a few days after the start of the Games, flooding the entire Arena in tsunami-like conditions.
The Victor, Annie Cresta, was the only survivor of the dam burst. She won due to being the most experienced swimmer and thus, not drowning.
The Arena[]
The Arena of the 70th Hunger Games was implied to be relatively tame, in comparison to other Arenas. There were forests and a river, and a dam which overlooked the Arena beyond the force field. Other details about this Arena are otherwise unknown.
